Magdziak, a member of Boy Scout Troop 323, is volunteering as part of his Eagle Scout project. He addressed the Ironwood Area Schools Board of Education last month to see if he could paint one of the classrooms at Sleight Elementary.
The room hadn't been painted in a decade, and Magdziak wanted to update the look of the room. The teacher is a Detroit Lions fan, so the room is being painted blue and gray for him.
The project was approved and Magdziak began work on Friday, painting the walls, installing new blinds and painting bookshelves. He enlisted help from his family, his friends in JROTC and his troop to help with the job.
The project will be completed by Wednesday.
