APPLETON, Wis. - Jim Prosek, 79, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.

Jim was born on June 24, 1934, in Bessemer, Mich., to the late Leonard and Lucille (Meyer) Prosek.

He married Bernadine Erspamer on May 25, 1957, in Hurley.

Jim was employed at Kraft Foods for over 35 years, retiring in 1992 as a sales supervisor.

During his high school and college years, Jim was an active participant in many sports. His interest in sports never faded and he closely followed his children's and his grandchildren's sporting activities and the Hurley sporting scene.

Jim was a dedicated member of Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on many committees and being involved in many projects. He also enjoyed fishing, card-playing and reading. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bernadine; his children, Diane (Terry) Meyers, Appleton, and Richard (Theresa) Prosek, Eau Claire; his grandchildren, Samuel and Robert Schumacher, and Matthew, Rachel and Megan Prosek; his stepgrandchildren, Staci (Eric) Evans, Travis Meyers (fiancée Becki), Jacqueline Nieman, Brittany Meyers and Justin James; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Karissa and Hailey Evans, Brayden and Clayton Nieman, and Maliyah Meyers; his brother, Jerry (Shirley) Prosek, Pulaski; his sisters-in-law, Barbara (Louis) Valle, Hurley, and Marylou (Steve) Stone, Ironwood, Mich .; and his uncle, Walter Prosek, Florida. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Prosek; and his nephew, Nikolas Prosek.

Memorial services were on Monday, Nov. 4, at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 930 E. Florida Ave., Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank officiating.

Interment will be in Hurley Cemetery.
