Rose Marie Bray

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Rose Marie Bray, 93, of Vaughn Street, Pioneer Park Apartments, Ironwood, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in Ironwood.

She was born March 3, 1920, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Marko and Mary (Kure') Osterman. Rose attended Ironwood schools and was employed in housekeeping for 15 years, as a mail contractor for 2 1/2 years and in food service at Grand View Hospital for 10 years until retirement in 1983.

She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles and playing bingo. Rose was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and resided at Pioneer Apartments since September 2002.

Rose was married to David R. Walli on March 28, 1940. They lived and farmed on the Walli homestead in Bessemer Township. David preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1958.

Rose was then married to Francis W. Bray on Nov. 3, 1960. They lived in North Bessemer until moving to Ramsay in 1972. Francis preceded her in death on June 11, 1973.

She is survived by three sons, David (Frances) Walli, Menomonee Falls, Wis., Gerald (Diane) Walli and Joseph (Barbara) Walli, both of Greenfield, Wis .; a stepson, James Bray, Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Victoria Nervig, Brooklyn Park, Minn .; and seven grandchildren, Jeffery (Roberta) Walli, Hurley, Wis., Daniel (Lisa) Walli, Oostburg, Wis., Tom (Ann) Walli, Janesville, Wis., Jill (Darrell) Boeck, Greenfield, James (Elizabeth) Walli, McFarland, Wis., Janice (Michael) Atkinson, New Berlin, Wis., and Angela (Chris) Frederikson, Greenfield. Rose is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marie Osterman and Lena Osterman, both of Ironwood, and Sigrid Bonetti, of Bruce Crossing; numerous nieces and nephews, including nieces Judy Huss and Karen Talkowski, of Ironwood; other relatives; and friends, including a special friend and caregiver, Carolyn Niemi, of Ironwood.

Besides her parents and husbands, Rose was preceded in death by brothers, John, Peter, Tony, Frank, Martin and Matt; and sisters, Mary Whitley, Catherine Stefonek and Helen Clark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robb Jurkovich will be the celebrant.

Rose's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of mass in the St. Joseph's Family Room.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.

Range Funeral Service Inc. and the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home of Bessemer has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
