A cappella group to perform holiday show

RHINELANDER, Wis. - A cappella group the Alley Cats will perform a holiday concert Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Nicolet College Theatre in Rhinelander.

The show, "Jingle Bell Rock - A Harmoniously Hysterical Holiday Hit," will feature "tight harmonies, smooth dance moves and high-energy doo-wop tunes," a news release said.

The quartet performs around the country. Formed in 1987 at Fullerton College in California, they landed their first professional gig at Disneyland's Blast to the Past. Soon after, they began making appearances on TV, radio shows, and at corporate events, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals and schools.

The Alley Cats were invited to perform in USO shows welcoming home troops from Iraq, at the White House, as Jay Leno's opening act in Las Vegas and as his late-night show guests. They've also shared the stage with Joan Rivers and crooned with Conan O'Brien, the release said.

"The Alley Cats are a perfect blend of musical talent and comic timing," said Nicolet Theatre Director Jim Nuttall. "They're refreshing and spontaneous, and love to interact with the audience. You can expect to hear favorites like 'Let It Snow,' 'Blue Christmas,' 'Do You Hear What I Hear,' 'Jingle Bell Rock,' 'Sleigh Ride,' 'Little St. Nick,' 'White Christmas' and many others. This is a great way to get in the holiday spirit."
