Mercer Lioness Club hosts annual senior Christmas party

MERCER, Wis. - Santa arrived with a tray of cookies and mingled with partygoers at the senior Christmas party held by the Mercer Lioness Club on Sunday.

The Mercer Lioness Club held its annual senior Christmas party at the Mercer Senior Center from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. The club provided food, drinks and various prizes for bingo.

Club member Cheri Stratte said the party starts early for the locals. "People start stopping by around noon," she said.

The party included door prizes, bingo, refreshments and visit from Santa.

Around 30 seniors and volunteers attended the party.

Christmas carols were sung and played on accordion during the party by local seniors Marvin Babic and Gary Schlais.

All attendees were able to sit on Santa's lap, have their picture taken and receive a bag of fruit.

The party was free and open to all seniors.
