Santa Claus to visit township Saturday

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - Santa Claus is taking a break from preparing for Christmas, making a visit to Ironwood Township on Saturday.

Area kids can visit Santa during the third annual Christmas for Kids party at the Ironwood Township gymnasium.

The event begins at 11 a.m.

The Ironwood Township Fire Department will sell hot dogs, cookies and brownies, and free beverages will be available.

Santa will visit at noon, and according to Jyl Olson-DeRosso, township treasurer, he will be available for as long as needed.

"He will be there until 1 p.m., approximately, but will stay as long as needed for kids to see him," Olson-DeRosso said.

Each child who attends the event will receive an age-appropriate gift and candy cane.

"Santa will be set up near our white Christmas tree, so parents can take photos of their children if they want," Olson-DeRosso said. "And this event is not just for township residents; all kids are welcome to attend."
