Gingerbread house contest winners named

IRONWOOD - Winners in the 2013 Ironwood Gingerbread Contest have been announced.

More than 30 entries competed. Participants were judged Thursday afternoon.

The candy creations and delicious designs were on display at the Downtown Art Place. The display will continue through Dec. 11, though participants were able to pick up their entries after judging.

First place participants received $20, second place received $15 and third place and honorable mentions received $10.

-Best Children's Entry (age 5 and under): 1. Trek Filz; 2. Ethan Fus; 3. Haily McRae.

-Best Children's Entry (6-8 years old): 1. Kyra Anys; 2. Henry Shackleford; 3. Cynthea Palm.

-Best Children's Entry (9-12 years old): 1. Faith Pera; 2. Kylee Damgard; 3. Adrianna Napie; honorable mention, Bella Nefstead.

-Best Teen Entry (13-18 years old): 1. (Maggie Meyer, Corissa Mattson and Priscille Dujardin); 2. Jamie DeWitt.

-Best Group or School Classroom Entry: 1. Gogebic County 4-H Market Livestock Group; 2. Hollenbeck family; 3. All Saints Catholic Academy fifth and sixth grade boys.

-Best Adult Entry: 1. Eva Smith Furgason and Elizabeth Nowik.

-Most Creative: 1. (Bo Mattson, John Holm, Ryan Allen and Anthony Niemi); 2. Aili family.
