Hometown Christmas Parade draws crowd despite chilly weather

ONTONAGON - The temperature was just eight above zero at the 13th annual Hometown Christmas Parade in Ontonagon Sunday.

The parade featured veterans with the combined colors, floats from the Stein Club, Dream Catchers, Americinn Inn, Silver City, Ontonagon County Animal Protection group, SONCO Ambulance and Santa and Mrs. Claus riding on the Ontonagon Fire Truck.

The two-day festival was shortened slightly by cold and snowy weather when some outdoor events had to be cancelled, but indoor activities, including a children's play at the theater, children's activity time, Christmas craft walk, nativity scene presentations, snowball dance and several business open houses.

Organizers, led by Annette Trail, said they were very pleased with the turnout for all events, despite the cold weather.
