BESSEMER - Twenty-five people braved sub-zero temperatures to carol on an old-fashioned hayride as part of Bessemer's community Christmas party, departing from the VFW Sunday afternoon.
Mayor Butch Semmerling donated the trailers and hay for the rides, and Neal Nelson and Larry Miskovich volunteered to drive.
After the hayride, Santa and Mrs. Claus were inside the VFW for children to visit with, and enjoy Christmas tales.
Event volunteer Donna Frello said cocoa, cookies, and other goodies were on hand for about 125 people to enjoy together.
