Robert 'Bob' Douglas Murdock

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Robert "Bob" Douglas Murdock, 87, of Ironwood, passed away Dec. 27, 2013.

He was born in Gardner, Mass., on June 3, 1926, to Douglas and Christel Murdock. After graduating from Athol High School in 1943, he served in the Navy and then went on to Worcester Polytechnic, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1950.

On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Nancy Augusta Howlett, his wife of the last 63 years.

He worked for Sperry Univac as a software manager, was a longtime Episcopalian, enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, playing Scrabble, doing word puzzles and eating at nice restaurants.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy; their children and their families, Valerie Davidson, Redwood City, Calif., Roy and Tami Murdock, Joplin, Mo., Darrel and Mary Murdock, Ironwood Township, Ian Murdock, Ontario, Calif., and Meredith Murdock, Whittier, Calif .; two brothers, Eugene and Arthur Murdock; and three sisters, Dorothy (Dotty), Barbara and Margery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Walter; and his sister, Lenore (Lenny).
