Christine 'Chris' Steiner


IRONWOOD, Mich. — Christine “Chris” Steiner, 70, of Gile, Wis., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in Ironwood.

She was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Arthur and Frances (Snarski) Moselle. Chris attended Hurley, Wis., schools and graduated from the J.E. Murphy High School with the class of 1961. She was employed by Dr. Sher as a receptionist, and by Kmart and Art Unlimited. She was also the owner of Pixie Ceramics for many years. Chris was a drummer with the Iron County VFW Drum and Bugle Corps. She was an accomplished accordion player and performed in many competitions and won numerous awards.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley.

Chris enjoyed her dogs, especially her Scotties, collie and German shepherd. She liked television and computer games. She enjoyed watching sports and her great-nephew Brett play hockey. She especially enjoyed spending time with her daughter and family. Chris enjoyed her class reunion gatherings. She was a breast cancer survivor of 30-plus years.

On April 8, 1978, she was married to Frank A. Steiner in Gile. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2007.

She is survived by a daughter, Kellie (Bob Lanier) Massi, of Gile; a sister, Lanie (Herb) Ramme, of Ironwood; nephew, Brad (Amy) Ramme, of Iron Mountain; and great-nephews, Brett and Drew Ramme, of Iron Mountain. Chris is also survived by extended family and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Kurt Ramme.

Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley. Rev. Frank Kordek OFM will be the celebrant. Chris’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at the church.

Range Funeral Service and Crematory and the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Hurley and Ironwood is assisting the family.

Mom, you were my best friend. I could never have been who I am today without your love and guidance. I will miss you, but know you are in my heart. Love you always, Kellie
