WITTENBERG, Wis. - Lucy (Marchello) Benetti, 94, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Homme Home Nursing Home in Wittenberg.
She was born in Bessemer, Mich., on July 1, 1919, to John and Silvia Marchello.
On June 4, 1947, she was married to Dante "Doc" Benetti at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2007.
She was employed by various businesses in Bessemer in her early years and then devoted her life to raising her three children. Her hobbies included knitting afghans for her children and grandchildren and solving crossword puzzles.
Lucy is survived by her children, Judy (DeWight) Perkins, of Mt. Airy, Md., Jeannie Benetti, of Weston, and John (Luann) Benetti, of Rothschild. Also surviving are her grandchildren, David (Crystal) Perkins, of Frederick, Md., Brian (fiancee Jessica Benpensata) Perkins, of Annapolis, Md., Diane Perkins, of Gaithersburg, Md., Mark (Lorelle) Benetti, of Rochester, Minn., and Trisha Benetti, of Rothschild. She also has two great-grandchildren, Brady Perkins, of Frederick, and Hannah Benetti, of Rochester. She has numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a brother, Luciano in infancy; and a very close brother, John Marchello.
Cremation has taken place.

There will be a celebration of Lucy's life to be announced in early summer of this year.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Homme Home of Wittenberg and Aspirus Hospice Care. Their dedication and kindness will forever be remembered.
In lieu of flowers and donations, the family requested for a candle to be lit at the church of your denomination or a donation to a charity of your choice in Lucy's name and memory.
