Hurley scores Exxon Mobile education grant

School earns funding for second year, money to benefit ­math, science programs

HURLEY - The Hurley School District received grant funding from Exxon Mobil, Tuesday.

According to Ray Kallas, of Ray's Mobil in Hurley, each Mobil station across the country is given an application from Exxon's Education Alliance to nominate its local school for the grant funding.

Each selected school receives funding towards math and science programs.

Hurley Elementary School was selected to receive $500.This is the second year the school has received funding from Exxon Mobil.

"It's a really good opportunity to help these students further their studies in math and science,"

Kallas said.It has not been decided how the money will be spent, but Kallas hopes this isn't the last time he'll be able to help the school district.

"Hopefully we can do this again next year," Kallas said.
