Daniel F. Frantz

BURLINGTON, Wis. - Daniel F. Frantz, 71, of Mercer, Wis., formerly of Cary, Ill., passed away Feb. 21, 2014, at Aurora Burlington Hospital in Burlington.

He was born May 15, 1942, in Chicago, the son of Frank and Phyllis Frantz.

Dan is survived by three children, Sherry (Wilbur) Mehlman, Lynda (Matt) Arnolts and Neil (Lucinda) Frantz; four grandchildren, Matthew Arnolts, Kristen Arnolts, Rebecca Frantz and Benjamin Frantz; three siblings, Eric (Theresa) Frantz, Karen Frantz and Lori (Scott) Koenig; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yukiko Frantz; and a brother, Larry Frantz.

Dan served in the Marines during the Vietnam Era and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also was on the recovery detail for some Apollo missions. He was a former Chicago policeman and a life member of the Cary AmVets. Dan and his wife, Yuki, owned and operated a number of businesses in Cary and Fox River Grove, Ill., including the Cary White Hen Pantry and the Dead End Bar and Grill in Fox River Grove. We must mention his beloved pet, Sammie.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m., concluding with a memorial service at 5 p.m. at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary.
