HURLEY - Iron County has become a "special place" for Ginger (Reese) and Shannon Coy, of Taylorville, Ill.
For years, the couple traveled to Iron County to snowmobile and enjoy other recreational sports.
They dated for five years, and decided they wanted to tie the knot. Three years ago, they got the idea to make the county an even more special place.
"We've been talking about getting married here for awhile," Ginger said Tuesday. "so we decided to do it."
The couple originally planned to be wed outside, but with temperatures hovering at or below zero, the wedding was moved inside to a warmer location.
In attendance were their witnesses and friends, George and Michelle Breeden, of Durant, Okla.
"This is a very special place for them," George said. "When he (Shannon) called and said they wanted to come up here this weekend, I knew they were going to be getting married."
As for their honeymoon, the Coys will celebrate in Iron County before heading home to Taylorville to spend time with their three kids - Gunder, 15, Courtney, 13, and Emily, 7.
"They would have been here, but they didn't want to miss school," Ginger said.
According to the couple, the ceremony was perfect.
"We wanted something short and sweet," Shannon said. "And that is what we got."
