Ironwood native to join Chance at Saturday concert

IRONWOOD - Musical duo Chance will perform with pianist and Ironwood native Jody DeCarlo-Schneider Saturday at 7 p.m. at Theatre North in Ironwood.

Chance, based in Highbridge, Wis., features Cheryl Leah on vocals and Ed Willett on cello, guitar and vocals. The act performed with DeCarlo-Schneider last year in Ironwood.

"We had such an incredible time with Jody and our friends at Theatre North that before the night was through, we had already decided to try and make it an annual event," Willett said.

"The program will again feature Jody in the first half with some of her beautiful original compositions for piano and cello, as well as some music of the great classical composers," Willett said. DeCarlo-Schneider grew up and attended high school in Ironwood and graduated from Northland College in Ashland, Wis., in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in music composition. She met Willett and Leah there.

DeCarlo-Schneider is currently the music director at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, where she began accompanying the choir in 1992. She also teaches music lessons locally.

Chance has performed and recorded music for the past 27 years. Leah and Willett began performing together in Los Angeles in 1986 and were married in 1987. They relocated to Wisconsin in 1993 and joined Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua in 1994, where they performed until 2011.

Tickets will be available at the door.
