Robert (Bob) Lincoln White

WHITE PINE, Mich. - Robert (Bob) Lincoln White, 68, of White Pine, passed away on March 27, 2014, at home surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Robert was born in Watersmeet to Harvey White Sr. and Julia (Pete) White on Oct. 7, 1945. He attended school in Baraga and Marquette before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1962. He served in Hawaii and California. Robert worked at the White Pine Mine starting in 1970. He worked many jobs, mostly underground. He is an Elder of Lac Vieux Desert and a former Tribal Councilman.

Robert is survived by wife, Donna Skoviak Noble White; daughters, Bobbi Jo (Josh) Gosnell, Roberta (Gary) Ivey, and Tammy (Steve) Tuttle; son, Ronnie (Drew) White; stepchildren, James (Lucy) Noble, Karen (Shawn) Laine, Susan (Michelle) Noble, and John (Becky) Noble; brothers, Harvey (Carol) White and Patrick White; and sister, Jenny (Merlin) Metoxin. Robert is also survived by 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all who were very special to him; along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers, Frano (JoAnn) Skoviak and Clem Skoviak; and sister-in-law, Rita (Don) Saari. He is also survived by former spouse, Nancy Ogelsby.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey White Sr., and Julia; brothers, Bill and Donnie; and sisters, Grace, Rena, Vivian and Teresa.

Robert was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Red Wings. He was a lover of life, his pastime enjoyments were church, music, fishing, playing ball, playing pool, Cribbage and outdoor activities with the kids and grandkids to name a few. Robert was very spontaneous, and loved to get in the car and go for a drive to wherever the road led him. Robert loved his lap cat, and "nurse's aid" Abbie, who gave him comfort always. He loved life, and all of the things included in it.

Funeral ervices will be at the White Pine Methodist Church at noon on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, with visitation from 10 a.m. until noon, with Pastor Rosemary DeHut officiating.

Arrangements are being made by Cane Funeral Home.

Pall Bearers will be sons-in-law Josh Gosnell, Steve Tuttle and Gary Ivey; and grandchildren, Kyle Tuttle, Kevin Ivey and Trevor Carpenter.
