Rose (DeRosso) Obrodovich

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Rose (DeRosso) Obrodovich passed away March 31, 2014, at the Hospice of the Valley, Ryan House, in Phoenix, at the age of 91.

Rose was born March 20, 1923, in Hurley, Wis.

She married Mike Obrodovich in 1939 and had two sons, who survive her. Mike and Rose moved to Eagle River, Wis., in 1945, where Mike owned and operated Lakeland Motors Ford that has remained in the family for 70 years.

Rose was a homemaker, where she enjoyed entertaining and raising their boys. Rose was an avid newspaper reader and card player. She also enjoyed slot poker, senior center bingo, dancing, baking and many other activities. She resided in Eagle River and Phoenix and spent many summers in Hurley visiting her sisters. She had an amazing career in golf, achieving four holes in one on her many times on the links. Rose was also an excellent bowler during her years in Eagle River.

She was a member of the Eagle River Women's Service Club and supported and volunteered for the Eagle River Recreation Association. She was a volunteer for the city of Phoenix at the Los Olivos Senior Center. Rose was on the Social Committee at the Heritage Senior Community in Phoenix, where she maintained a condo for the last nine years. A huge 90th birthday party was held there for Rose last year.

Rose is survived by her two boys, Mike (Mickey) Obrodovich, of Phoenix, and Tom (Debbie) Obrodovich, of Eagle River; sister, Delia Johnson, of Onalaska, Wis .; brother, Bruno DeRosso, of Ironwood, Mich .; sister-in-law, Belva DeRosso, of Gile,Wis .; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bill Barnaby, of Escanaba, Mich., and June and Johnny Broadway, of Florence, S.C .; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rose was a loving person who gave so much to others and made a difference in so many lives. She was admired and appreciated and was truly a very special person.

Rose will return to Eagle River to be interred at St. Peter's Cemetery with her beloved husband Mike Saturday, May 24, at noon.

Lunch will follow at the Eagle River Country Club.

A memorial service was held at the Heritage Park Retirement Community in Phoenix on April 5.
