Jeane Loraine Arducant

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Jeane Loraine Arducant, 88, of Ironwood, Mich., passed away peacefully Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Seasons Hospice in Waukesha.

Jeane was born on June 15, 1925, in Highbridge, Wis., daughter of the late Waino R. and Alma (Pintamo) Mattson. In 1933, the family moved to Ironwood, where she attended Ironwood area schools, graduating from Luther L. Wright High School in 1943.

On Feb. 10, 1947, she married Stanley R. Arducant at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ironwood, by the late Rev. Francis X. Ronkowski. Stanley preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1996.

She received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich. She taught English and history at Hartford High School, Hartford, Mich .; Jackson Western High School, Parma, Mich .; and Jackson High School, Jackson, Mich, from which she retired in 1985.

She was a member of Gogebic Retired School Personnel and a life member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, the Michigan Education Association and the National Education Association.

In retirement, she and her husband resided at their home on KP Lake in Grayling, Mich., and wintered in Orange Beach, Ala. In 1992 they moved to Ironwood. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Jeane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Ann and W. David (Dave) Hamilton, of Brookfield; son, Stanley, of Ironwood and Watersmeet, Mich .; a granddaughter, Amy Lossie, and her husband, C. Andrew Glomski, of Rockville, Md .; and three grandsons, Christopher Lossie, Paw Paw, Mich., Matthew Hamilton, Stoughton, and Steven Hamilton, and his wife, Jennifer Hamilton, and their children, Charlie and Luella, of Deerfield, Ill .; a sister, Ethel Vizanko, Portage; brother-in-law, Max Sobolewski, and his wife, Gretchen; and her many nieces and nephews and their families.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
