BERGLAND, Mich. — Neil Kalember, 69, of Bergland, passed away on May 2, 2014.
He was born and raised in Bergland and graduated from Bergland High School, marrying his high school sweetheart, Marian (Nordine) Kalember, in 1965. He was employed at White Pine Copper and then as an elementary teacher at Posen Consolidated Schools for 29 years.
He was an excellent basketball and baseball player and loved all sports.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; son, Jeff (Stephanie), of Gaylord; daughter, Jill (Tom) Kline, of Grand Rapids; and five lovely grandchildren, Mateah Schleben, Andrew Kalember, Anna Kalember, Connor Kline and Harrison Kalember. Other surviving relatives include sisters, Sharon (Jalmer) Laingren and Faye (Russel) Nordine, of Bergland, and Lynn (Mike) Borseth, of Seffner, Fla .; sister-in-law, Kathy, of Denver, and sister-in-law, Betty, of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Gladys Kalember; and brother, Pete Kalember.
A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, June 8, at 1 p.m. EDT at JW’s BBQ and Brew in Bergland.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Spectrum Health Hospice.
