Mary R. Bretall

WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Mary R. Bretall, 89, of Bessemer, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Wakefield.

She was born on June 28, 1924, in Puritan Location, Bessemer, daughter of the late John and Ancilla (Dalsaggio) Stella, and had been a longtime Bessemer resident.

Her husband, James D. Bretall, preceded her in death on May 22, 1975.

Mary was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella and the Gogebic Association for Retarded Citizens.

She is survived by two sons, Paul (Pam), of Wakefield, and Jack (Heidi), of Bessemer; two daughters, Mary Kay Jendrusina, of Bessemer, and Patty Bretall, of Wakefield; one brother, Frank Stella, of Babbitt, Minn .; 10 grandchildren, Jenn, Marcie, Mike, Laura, Amy, Nicole, Mark, Matthew, Joseph and James; 11 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandsons, Dan and Scott; four stepgreat-grandsons; special friends, Erinn and Kerry Mahoney; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one son, Dennis; two grandsons, James and Jack; and four brothers, Severino, Antonio, Leno and Joseph Stella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. The Rev. Antony Lukka will be the celebrant.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service at the church.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
