Sharon Lee (Marti) Ahola

ASHLAND, Wis. - Sharon Lee (Marti) Ahola, 64, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Golden Living-Court Manor in Ashland, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mercer on Dec. 16, 1949.

An avid pet lover and bingo player, Sharon was quick-witted with an excellent sense of humor until her last moments. When asked "how do you feel?," she replied with a smile, "with my fingers." Sharon loved her family and loved spending time with them either on the phone or in person at various family functions. We now have a very special, devoted Christian angel looking over us all.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dennis M. Ahola; daughter, Bonnie (Sid) Reynolds; son, Dennis (Gwen Saari) Ahola; grandchildren, Duncan, Zach and Becky; sisters, Carol Marti, Jan Schulze and Bonnie (Jon) Schlais; sister-in-law, Barbara (Bruce) Dianich; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; special four-legged companion, Scooter; and four-legged grandsons, Oskar and Jackson.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bonnie Marti; mother-in-law, Lila, and father-in-law, Mertsi Ahola; brothers, Dwayne Krause and Frank Marti; brother-in-law, Ray "Speck" Marti; nephew, Richard Marti; and many pets, including Toby.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 10 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, Mich., with the Rev. Kitty Schwanke, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Mercer, officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Mercer Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
