Elsa E. Stanek

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Elsa E. Stanek, of Green Bay, passed away June 4, 2014.

She was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Creighton Mine, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich., in 1944, and attended Badger Business College in Green Bay. Elsa worked at the Brown County University office in Green Bay, retiring in April 1985, after 40 years of service.

She married Wesley A. Stanek in Ironwood in 1953, and together they owned and operated Evergreen Appraisals in DePere.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Erick and Hilma (Kekalainen) Lehikoinen; nieces, Kathy Stilen and Janet Schmidt; and a brother-in-law, John Stilen.

She is survived by sisters, Nikki Stilen, of Middleton, and Vienna Johnson (Freeman), of Eagle River; nieces, Karen Konick (Dr. Lawrence), of Salem, Ore., and Lynn Johnson, of Sumpter, Ore .; nephews, Lawrence Stilen (Donna), of Eagle, and Steve Schmidt, of Madison; as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephew, Jennifer Konick, Natalie Schmidt and Jordan Konick.

A private family service will be held at a future date.

Burial will be at the Czech National Cemetery in Yuba.

Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorials may be made to the N.E.W. Zoo in Suamico.
