Frances A. 'Fran' Loreti

HURLEY, Wis. - Frances A. "Fran" Loreti, 93, of Hurley, died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at home.

Fran was born in Ironwood, Mich., on Jan. 2, 1921, to Frank and Philomene (Broccone) Champagne. She graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1939 and worked at the Curry-Sullivan Agency (real estate and insurance) from 1941-1947. After many years as a stay-at-home mom, she returned to work for Astronautics of America, Hurley, in 1973 and retired in 1986.

She married Alessio C. "Al" Loreti on April 9, 1947, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood. Monsignor J.B. Moriarty performed the nuptials. Five children were born to this union. Al died on Sept. 7, 1974.

Frances was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hurley and its Council of Catholic Women, the Iron County Senior Citizens Association, American Legion Auxiliary Post 58 in Hurley, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She had previously belonged to the Women's International Bowling Congress, Wisconsin Women Bowlers, Wisco-Mich Bowling Association and Eagle Bluff Golf Club.

In addition to her spouse, Fran was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Albert Peterson, Leonora and George Neville, Louise DeCarlo and Charlotte DeCarlo; and her nephew, Jerry DeCarlo.

She is survived by her five children, Patricia Henrich (Thomas), Green Bay, Frank Loreti, Rhinelander, Gregory (Mary Grace) Loreti, Ironwood, Mary Loreti-Sears (Dave), Saxon, and James (Tami) Loreti, Suamico; and 11 grandchildren, Timothy (Sherry) Henrich, DePere, Alessia (Kristofor) Holien, Cambridge, England, Jason Loreti (Bonnie), Wauwatosa, Krysta (Loreti) Bellini, Wauwatosa, Evan (Meagan) Loreti, Dousman, Chiana (David) Valencia, Billings, Mont., Mario Loreti, Hurley, Anthony Loreti, Minneapolis, and Gregory, Derek and Chiara Loreti, Suamico. Great-grandchildren are Jaidan, Ava and Carson Loreti, Deanna and Davis Bellini, Rowan Caughey, Roseann, Logan, Pearl and Thomas James (TJ) Holien, Teegan Henrich and Vicenza Valencia.

She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Tom (Marilyn) and Joe DeCarlo; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families, including Karen Libertoski, Charlotte and Frank Maenza, Lee Anne Newell, George and Joyce Neville, Tom and Carol DeCarlo, Lori DeCarlo, Jack and KyongHui DeCarlo, Jody and Robin Schneider, Cheri DeCarlo, Diane and Paul Anderson, Lori and Roger Kienitz, Ann Marie and Rodney Batiste and David and Melissa DeCarlo; and cousins, Liz and Ed McCarthy.

Fran especially loved spending time with her entire family. She also enjoyed reading, bowling, golf, crossword and fill-in puzzles, playing cards, emailing, Skyping, computer games, playing favorite songs on the piano and watching sports on TV. She was an avid Badgers and Packers fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Hurley. The Rev. Frank Kordek OFM will be the celebrant. Pallbearers will be Timothy Henrich, Jason Loreti, Evan Loreti, Mario Loreti, Anthony Loreti, Gregory Scott Loreti and Derek Loreti. Luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Rite of Committal and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Church in Hurley.
