Audrey Jean (Nordine) Kapelka

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Audrey Jean (Nordine) Kapelka, 37, of Ironwood, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, June 23, 2014.

Audrey was born on May 4, 1977, in Ironwood, a daughter of Rodger Wayne and Mary Irene (Thompson) Nordine. She attended Washington Grade School and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1995. Audrey continued her education at Gogebic Community College, where she was on the dean's list, and received two associate degrees. Her degrees were an Associate of Applied Business in 1997 and an Associate of Applied Science in medical coding and billing in 2007.

On May 1, 1997, Audrey married Lewis LeRoy Kapelka in Bessemer.

She was employed as a manager at Krist Oil Convenience Store in Ironwood and was a sales associate at the Ironwood Kmart.

Audrey enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, kayaking, skiing and snowboarding with her family.

She was a loving, fun and hard-working person. Audrey will be greatly missed by all and her memory will never be lost to those who where lucky enough to know her.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Lewis; two daughters, Rebecca Lynn, 17, and Jamie Lee, 13; her parents, Rodger, Mellen, Wis., and Mary, Trout Creek; a sister, Janet (Daniel) Sturkol, Wakefield; two stepsons, Jonathon and Joshua; two stepdaughters, Christy and Ronda; seven stepgrandchildren; her father-in-law, LeRoy Kapelka, King, Wis .; her mother-in-law, Mary Kapelka, Fond du Lac, Wis .; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Linda and Tom Clendenning, Plainfield, Wis., Loren and Bonnie Kapelka, Custer, Wis., and Lana and Donnie Sherman, Nekoosa, Wis .; many aunts and uncles, including a special uncle and aunt, Pete and Maxine Thompson, Trout Creek; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie R. Nordine, on Feb. 4, 2008; and the Nordine and Thompson grandparents.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 27, at 3 p.m., preceded by visitation at 1 p.m., at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson, pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, officiating.
