Karate Institue hold drug awareness week

MICHIGAN STATE Police Sgt. Glen Gothier was a special guest speaker for Karate Institute's recent drug awareness week. Gauthier talked to the kids and adults about harmful, prevelent drugs in the area . He also talked about how easily drugs are obtained and the high abuse of prescription drugs and methamphetamine. Those attending the event included, from left, first row Cody Shepherd, Amelia Green, Sophia Villanueva, William Green, Vinny Triggiano, Rukus Betlewski, Isaac Fyle, Dillon Makela and Jaakob Fyle; and second row MSP Sgt. Glen Gauthier, Dave Bolen, Ryan Fyle, Elisabeth Fyle, Dave Campbell, Ashley Campbell, Antonella Gheller, Robin Nichols, Rebecca Nichols, Zavi Nichols, Terese Rollins, Cambria Rollins, Pete Rollins, Taylor Makinen, Dawn Villanueva, Teri Triggiano and DJ Williams. KI instructor Dave Betlewski said the institute will celebrate 34 years with an open house in September and students will attend the U.P. Karate Championships in Baraga in October.
