Bowling tournament raises money for Ontonagon Cancer Association

ONTONAGON - For nine years, the Ontonagon Lake Trout Classic has raised funds for worthy groups in the area.

For the past several years, the annual bowling tournament, led by Larry and Diane Greig, has raised funds for the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.

This year the tournament was sponsored by Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital and Greig.

County sheriff Dale Rantala presented OCCA president Bev Meagher with a check for $4,100 to financially assist cancer patients in Ontonagon County.

Greig said in its first year, the tournament raised $800 and has grown steadily.

Meagher thanked the Greigs, the hospital, participants and sponsors for the funds. "Each year we are able to help more and more cancer patients, and your help makes it possible," she said.

The OCCA assists cancer patients with travel expenses and non-reimbursed cancer bills.
