Paul Michael Harvey

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Paul Michael Harvey, 67, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 22, 2014.

Paul was born on April 6, 1947, in Waukegan, Ill., a son of Maitland and Ruth (Willing) Harvey. He attended Antioch (Ill.) High School and graduated in 1966.

Paul enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and proudly served his country for four years. In 1970, he was honorably discharged as a sergeant.

Paul returned to Illinois and worked for his father doing roofing, siding and carpentry work.

In 1980, Paul moved to Wakefield. He was employed by the city of Wakefield until he retired.

An avid outdoorsman, Paul loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed going to camp with his buddies.

He was a member of the Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11, and faithfully carried the Prisoner Of War flag for Marty's Goldenaires for many years.

Paul is survived by his parents, Maitland and Ruth, Hurley, Wis .; two brothers, Alan (Carol), Mabel, Minn., and Steve (Veronica), Wakefield; a sister, Virginia (Raymond) Morby, Burlington, Wis .; his best friend and soul mate, Gail Thompson and her son, Billy, both of Wakefield; a daughter, Adrienne; an uncle, Eugene Willing, Wakefield; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a host of friends; and his special companions, Daisy and Sassy.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Maitland and Nettie Harvey; his maternal grandparents, Matt and Helmi Willing; and many special aunts and uncles.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Aug. 29, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel, 806 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the honor guard beginning at 10:15 a.m.

A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bill Jacobson, pastor of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, officiating.

Following the service, military rites will take place at the funeral home under the auspices of the Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11 and the Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 Honor Guard.

Lunch will be served at the American Legion Geroux Post 11, 605 River St., in Wakefield, following the military honors.
