Micheal Lee 'Mike' Hillier

BERGLAND, Mich. - Micheal Lee "Mike" Hillier, 70, of Bergland, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 20, 1943, in Wauwatosa, Wis., the son of Walter and Myrtle (Bigger) Hillier.

He was a graduate of the Ewen High School class of 1963.

Mike was employed by the Ontonagon County Road Commission for 37 years as a heavy equipment operator. His job was his passion. His other interests include bird hunting and maintaining his yard until illness prevented him. He loved watching the boats and the Sault Sainte Marie area and local trains.

Mike was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland and the Lake Gogebic Senior Recreational Club.

He married the former Nancy Miller on Aug. 1, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland. She survives.

Mike is survived by two daughters, Michele and Melissa, both of Bergland; an uncle, Brian (Arlene) Hillier, Marquette; several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins; and his two faithful dogs, Sable and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and beloved dogs Bert and Hershey.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. EDT at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland. The Rev. Timothy Steckling will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 9 a.m. EDT until the time of service.

Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bruce Crossing.

A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the return from the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Glen E. Miller, Glen L. Miller, Gordon Thomasini, Clint Weber Jr., Leonard Johnson and Donald Abrams.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Aspirus Grand View Hospital and Marquette General Hospital for their care and compassion throughout the years.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home in Bessemer.
