John P. Trojahn

MESA, Ariz. - John P Trojahn, 95, of Mesa, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Mesa, with his wife Helen (formerly Helen Kero of Saxon, Wis.) and family by his side.

John was born in Milwaukee on May 9, 1919, to August and Pauline Trojahn.

After serving in the U.S. Army and surviving the Battle of the Bulge, he returned home and moved his family to Ironwood, Mich., to establish Trojahn Band Instrument Service and begin farming in Erwin Township.

Among his many activities he was known as the "Silver Dollar Man" when involved with the Michigan Milk Producers Association in which he held office.

John, Helen and family moved to Arizona in 1967, bringing his expertise in band instrument repair and sales to the Valley of the Sun. In 2012, after 75 years, he decided to retire.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen; four daughters, Kathy (Danny) Santini, Hurley, Wis., Sue Hanaway, Kaukana, Wis., Bonne (Charles) Rogers, Tempe, and Tammy Matthews, Peoria; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his sister Lucille (Steve) Cannistra, Milwaukee.
