Eunice Marie Holder

GURNEE, Ill. - Eunice Marie Holder, 84, of Gurnee, formerly of Marenisco, Mich., passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014.

Eunice was born on July 27, 1930, in Laurium, Mich., a daughter of William James and Ellen Marie (Maki) Davidson. The family moved to Wakefield, Mich., and later to Dunham, Mich., where they farmed. She attended Roosevelt High School in Marenisco and graduated as salutatorian in 1949.

Eunice worked for many years in Boulder Junction, Wis., and later was employed by Anchor Hocking Glass Factory in Gurnee.

In 1950, she was united in marriage to Ernest Schade. They were blessed with three children.

In 1969, Eunice married Jesse Holder. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1994.

Eunice liked to sew, work puzzles and read. At the age of 16, she began visiting the elderly, veterans' facilities and nursing homes. Eunice enjoyed bringing them gifts and writing and reading them letters. She created her own stationary. Eunice had the gift of making many new friends where ever she went.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Eunice is survived by a daughter, Susan (David) Thomas, Gurnee; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Grant (Connie) Davidson, Louisville, Ky., Jerome (Carol) Davidson, Alma, Mich., and Allan Davidson, Laurium; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Jesse, she was preceded in death by her parents; her significant other, Louis Conterio, Marenisco; a son, Kenneth Schade; a daughter, Deborah Silvers, three brothers, Bruce, Thomas and Brian Davidson; and a sister, Judith Hill.

Eunice was grateful to Louis' stepfamily who warmly welcomed her into their family.

A graveside service and interment will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
