Homemade items delight at 'Christmas at the Crossing'

BRUCE CROSSING - Many gathered for the 25th annual "Christmas at the Crossing" Children's Christmas Party held on Saturday.

The Settler's Depot Gallery had a wide display of goods, including homemade mittens and hats, dishcloths, jewelry, baked goods, blankets, art, and more.

Santa and Mrs. Claus were also in attendance, as they are each year, taking pictures and asking children what they wanted for Christmas.

Each child who visited with Santa went home with a little bag of treats. All pictures with Santa are able to be picked up from Settler's Co-op at a later date.

The depot gallery, which mostly has open hours during the summer months, is now closed for the winter season.

There was also a craft fair taking place across M-28 at the VFW post, with a total of about 15 vendors.

Vendor Florence Budd, who was selling homemade character hats, said that the craft fair was not very busy.

Joanne Cottenham, another vendor, also said not too many people had been through, as she sat creating more homemade dishcloths.

"Christmas at the Crossing," which takes place the first Saturday in December each year, will happen again next year, as it has for the past 25 years.
