HURLEY, Wis. - Cleone Joyce Trevarthen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor, 86, of Ironwood, Mich., died peacefully Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley.

The former Cleone Anderson was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Rudolph and Lily (Erickson) Anderson, attended G.N. Sleight School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1946.

She was united in marriage to Robert J. Trevarthen on April 16, 1948, at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, by the late Rev. Johnstone. Bob preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2006.

Cleone was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, ELCA, and the Salem Quilters. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and quilter, and was invited by the Michigan State University Museum to participate in a statewide inventory of historic quilts. She was also a marvelous cook and a passionate reader.

Surviving are three sons, Lawrence (Linda), Shawano, William (Linda), Okemos, Mich., and Donald (Marcia), Plymouth, Minn .; two grandchildren, John (Heather) Trevarthen, Green Bay, and Sarah Trevarthen, Minneapolis; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Jessica and Samantha; a special niece, Janice (George) Finco, New Berlin; and numerous cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, Cleone was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jessica Robin Trevarthen, in 2000; and a great-grandson, Samuel John Trevarthen, in 2007.

She taught us all to live with grace, love, faith and a positive spirit. She will be sorely missed but lives on in our hearts, where memories of her fill us with joy.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Sky View Nursing Center, whose staff are nothing short of angels and whose care of our Cleone was as dear as if she were a member of their family. Our gratitude also to Pastor Kurt Kovanen whose loving visits these last few years and last few days were a comfort beyond description.

Funeral services and interment will be held in the spring, at a time and date to be announced.
