Clyde E. 'Bud' Nicholson

WOODRUFF, Wis. - Clyde E. "Bud" Nicholson, 84, of Hometown Village, Mercer, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.

Bud was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Cambridge, Ohio, son of the late Clyde and Audrie (Williams) Nicholson, and attended Mooseheart School in North Aurora, Ill. He lived and worked for a time in Illinois prior to moving to Mercer in 1972, where he owned and operated B&B Garage for 22 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling, and was well known for his homemade maple syrup.

He married the former Bridget "Barb" Finn on July 11, 1970, in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, the Rev. Peter (Kary) Jonas, Arcadia, Wis .; three grandchildren, Maura, Brendan and Liam Jonas, all of Arcadia; a brother, Frank (Nancy), Bourbon, Mo.; three sisters, Jane (Jess) Holcomb, Boonesville, Miss., Juanita (Chuck) Draves, North Aurora, and Sandra Milligan, Cypress, Calif .; and numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Besides his parents, Bud was predeceased by brothers, William, Raymond, John, Carl, Curt and Robert, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, Mich., with Deacon Norbert Brossmer officiating.

Luncheon will follow at the Bonshell Cafe in downtown Hurley.

Spring committal and interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Saxon.
