Thomas Robert 'Snuffy' Cvengros

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Thomas Robert "Snuffy" Cvengros, 56, of Ironwood, passed away on Jan. 3, 2015. He was born in October 1958, in Ironwood.

He graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1975 then moved briefly to New Mexico to work on oil rigs. He also worked as pipe fitter for Northern Pipeline, as a millwright for Louisiana Pacific and for Binz Brothers Well Drilling.

He married the former Mary Paquette at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, on Nov. 29, 1980. Soon after they started a family and he is survived by his three sons, Johnathon (Amy) Cvengros of Neenah, Wis., Robert (Karleen Katona) Cvengros of Iron Mountain, and Thomas James Cvengros of Marquette; and two grandchildren, Jack and Nora.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Lynn (Steve) Binz of Hurley, Wis., Elizabeth (Thomas Knight) Cvengros of Saxon, Wis., Mary Conley of Ironwood, Paula Annonson of Hurley, Sue (Kenny) Rozelle of Hurley, Roberta Gleason, Diana Davidson and Christina Held; a brother, Robert Tusa Jr .; his uncles, Donald (Jane) Cvengros and Evert Kivi, both of Wakefield; his aunts, June Cvengros of Detroit, Debbie LaVerdure of Ironwood and Joan (Ken) Johnson of New Mexico; nieces and nephews, Angella Paulson, Stephanie Binz, Steven (Kim) Binz, Wayne (Andrea) Binz, Chelsea (Jesse Cox) Binz, Leroy Hamm III, Melissa (San) Dyon, Tyler Rozelle, Michelle Cvengros, Gerald Abramson and Vicki Duray; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by special relatives and friends, Gary Bugaiski, Donald (Kerry) Cvengros and Brian (Roberta) Binz.

He is proceeded by his parents, John "Jack" and Dolores (LaVerdure) Cvengros; siblings, Patrisha Bearhart and Bill Sordahl; grandparents, Stephen and Erma (Packmeyer) Cvengros and Victor and Mary (Deitel) Laverdure; an uncle Robert Cvengros; aunts, Virginia and Phillis Kivi; and cousins, Robert Cvengros and Kathy (Cvengros) Halverson.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time at his longtime family camp. He was kind and gentle and had a great love for children and his family.

At his request, no service will be held. However, his family plans to have a private celebration of his life in the spring.
