Larry L. Ross

L’ANSE, Mich. — Larry L. Ross, 72, of Watton, passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse.

Larry was born in Goodrich, on Dec. 31, 1942, the son of the late Jessie and Sylvia (Copenen) Ross. He graduated from L’Anse High School in 1961. He then attended Northern Michigan University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981. Larry married the former Judith Niemela in Covington on June 29, 1963. He was employed at Finlandia University as Vice President of Finance until his retirement in 2006. He had also prepared income taxes for various clients.

Larry was a member of the Lions Club, the L’Anse Golf Club and had been a trustee on the Covington Township Board and Baraga County Credit Union Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and being outdoors. His family was his greatest love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; sons, Robert (Roberta) Ross of Ironwood, Larry (Rhonda) Ross of Bruce Crossing, Keith (Tina) Ross of Gladstone, and Tim (Chandra) of Interlochen; grandchildren, Mitchell, Brittney, Brandon, Nicklas, Jakob, Taylor, Ian, Dylan and Cypress; great-grandchild, Kylie; and sisters, Ann Ross of Muskegon, and Virginia Miller of the Twin Cities, Minn. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
