June Marilyn Ceccon

NORTH BRANCH, Minn. - June Marilyn Ceccon, 82, died from medical complications due to Alzheimers on April 27, 2015, at Ecumen Nursing Home in North Branch, where she had been a patient since March 2012.

The former June Moisio was born May 31, 1932, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Walter and Lydia (Harju) Moisio. She attended Ironwood public schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1950, earning recognition as a National Honor Society member. She lived her entire child and adult life in Ironwood, except during her later years, due to her unfortunate deteriorating health.

June was employed at the Bell Telephone office as a phone operator, before dial phones became popular. During her lifetime, she worked at miscellaneous cooking and cleaning jobs for various businesses in the Gogebic area. Over many decades her regular seasonal job was as a cook at the local A&W drive-in restaurant on U.S. 2.

June was member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, and the Piave Women's Auxiliary. June was a dedicated mother, care-giver, peacekeeper and meticulous housekeeper. When not working, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and socializing with friends. June was an avid baker and a great cook, and she always had an assortment of delicious cakes and cookies available in her kitchen. June was a gentle spirit. Her quiet strength, thoughtfulness, kindheartedness, strong work ethic and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew her.

On Feb. 27, 1954, June married James Ceccon at St. Ambrose Catholic Church by the late Rev. Msgr. Joseph Seifert. She was a devoted wife for 57 years, until his death on June 5, 2011.

June was the loving and cherished mom to her three daughters, Susan Walseth, Lino Lakes, Cathy (Roman) Tauer, Ironwood, Paula (Kris) Vaughn, North Branch; and son, Domenic (Patti) Ceccon, Ironwood. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Jesse (Emily) Walseth, Joshua Walseth, Brandon Tauer, Travis Tauer, Nicole Ceccon, Kevin Ceccon, Erik Vaughn and Cassandra Vaughn.

In addition, surviving are two sisters-in-law, Molly Ceccon, Ironwood Township, Mich., and Mitzie Moisio, Hoyt Lakes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, June was preceded in death by her only brother in 2008, Walter (Babe) Moisio; two brothers-in-law, William Ceccon and Eugene Ceccon; and a sister-in-law, Alice (Bebs) Ceccon.

Special appreciation and thanks to the Ecumen Nursing Home staff in North Branch, for their exceptional care of June.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.

In celebration of June's life, a funeral service, starting with visitation, will be held on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Family Room at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Pall bearers will be June's grandsons, Jesse Walseth, Joshua Walseth, Brandon Tauer, Travis Tauer, Kevin Ceccon and Erik Vaughn.

Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
