Friends of Carnegie Library to host book sale

IRONWOOD - The Friends of the Carnegie Library will host a used book sale this weekend at the Ironwood Memorial Building.

It begins today with a members-only preview for those who are members of the Friends of the Library. It runs from 2 to 6 p.m. today.

The public sale will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Most books are 50 cents, with children books costing 10 cents, according to Friends Vice President Carol Erickson, with CDs and DVDS usually costing $1 or $2, depending on size.

Every child who comes to the book sale gets a free book, Erickson said.

The money from the sale will help the organization continue its efforts to support the library and sponsor programs and activities for patrons.

"The money goes to the Friends of the Library, and then the Friends use the money as they see fit to help the library," Erickson said. "It could be used for projects, it could be used for children programs ... whatever (the library) needs, they ask us."

Anyone interested in joining the group or renewing memberships can do so during today's sale, according to information from the library.

Anyone with questions can call the library at 906-932-0203.
