Daniel Clarence Johnson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Daniel Clarence Johnson, 65, of Bessemer, died Sunday, May 17, 2015, in Ironwood.

Dan was born Feb. 15, 1950, in Ironwood, son of the late Clarence and Hazel (Hill) Johnson.

He attended Bessemer schools, graduating from A. D. Johnston High School with the class of 1968. He retired as a staff sergeant from the Army Reserves after 23 years of service. For many years he was employed by the city of Bessemer as an equipment operator and lead man, retiring in 2005.

Dan was a member of the Bessemer American Legion. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and his time at the lake.

He is survived by a son, Chad (Carol) Johnson of Ironwood; a brother, Donald (Gayl) Johnson of Marquette; a sister, Darlene (Tim) Marczak of Ontonagon; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 22, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home in Bessemer. Rev. Nancy Kauppi will officiate. Full military rites will be conducted by the combined Bessemer American Legion/VFW Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be in the family lot in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.

Danny's motto was: "Friends take care of friends."
