Delores A. Leoni

HURLEY, Wis. - Delores A. Leoni, 85, of Southgate Village, Hurley, and former longtime Gile resident, died peacefully Friday, May 22, 2015, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, with her loving family by her side.

She was born Sept. 8, 1929, in West Allis, daughter of the late Arthur and Alice (Jeske) Dietel, came to Hurley at age four, and lived in Oma, where she attended the Oma State Graded School. She worked as a waitress and kitchen worker at Gogebic Lodge on Lake Gogebic, and at Rudy's Bar and Grill and Connie's Supper Club in downtown Hurley.

Delores was a former member of AARP. An excellent cook, she always made sure everyone had enough to eat. She also enjoyed yard work and visiting with friends and neighbors. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and always put others before herself. She will be dearly missed.

She was married to Guido Leoni in Pine City, Minn. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1985.

Surviving are three sons, Gary, Hurley, and Dennis (Amy), and Joe (Kay), both of Gile; two daughters, Charlotte Ware, Milwaukee, and Susan Mueller, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Lindblad, Bessemer, Mich., and Ruth DaPra, Hurley; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Gehrke, Montreal; sister-in-law, Gwen Dietel, Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Delores was predeceased by a son, Harold Gehrke, Aug. 27, 2013; daughter-in-law, Cathy Leoni, Feb. 16, 2011;  three brothers, Earl, Fred and John Dietel; a sister, Mary LaVerdure; and brother-in-law, Harold Lindblad.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, Mich., with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, officiating.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.

Luncheon will be served at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley immediately upon return from the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Leoni, Gary Leoni Jr., Mark Samardich, Jon Samardich, Alan Lindquist and Joe Maslanka Jr.
