Josephine C. Pedergnana

GREENFIELD, Wis. - Josephine C. Pedergnana, 97, former longtime Kimball resident, died peacefully Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Oak Crest Villa in Greenfield.

The former Josephine Bogun was born June 26, 1917, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Vakula) Bogun.

She married Caesar Pedergnana in 1940. They had one daughter, Sharon Pedergnana, and one grandchild, Chris Pretti. Caesar preceded Josephine in death in 1987.

Josephine was a mother, a tavern owner (Caesar's Place in Kimball), a seamstress and a devoted grandmother. She was an avid gardener. If it grew in the soil she would nurture it. She was a skilled crafter and could create almost anything from fabric, yarn or thread. She loved music. If there was a polka playing, she would dance to it. She had a great sense of humor, a terrific smile, loved her puzzles and read every book she could get her hands on. Most of all, she will be deeply missed by her grandson who she would watch on his walk to grade school every morning.

She is survived by her grandson, Chris (Lynn Baldewicz) Pretti, Cudahy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Pedergnana, in 2010; three brothers, Thomas, John and Adam Bogun; and four sisters, Sally Ramsdell, Amelia "Amy" Huie, Carolyn Petty and Catherine Bruneau.

Honoring Josephine's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, officiating.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood. Condolences may be expressed online at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
