Ironwood Theatre hosts 'Grease' sing-a-long

IRONWOOD -Dressed in poodle skirts, black T's and and saddle shoes, "Grease" fans came to historic Ironwood Theatre on Saturday to sing along to the classic flick.

Prior to showing the sing-a-long version of "Grease," Ironwood Theatre and the Klassic Krusers hosted a car show.

Because of rain, there were a limited number of cars shown.

Overall, Beverly Tousignant's 1968 Plymouth GTX won best-in-show.

Following the car show, those dressed up in costume participated in a costume contest. The winners of the contest were Sara Cowles and Evelynn Hembree.

At last, it was time to show "Grease Sing-A-Long."

Unlike the regular version of the film, the sing-a-long version put song lyrics as subtitles on the screen. As the lyrics came on screen, they were animated and changed color as the song progressed.

During different scenes throughout the movie, the audience was cued to perform a variety of stunts in addition to singing to their favorite songs.

Every time Danny Zuko came on stage, audience members whistled or screamed. Whenever Sandy Olsen was on screen, the audience cat-called. When Zuko was racing, the audience waved flags to cheer him on. Towards the end of movie, the audience popped poppers when Zuko hit the bell when trying the carnival strength-test game.

At the end of the movie, everyone applauded and seemed to enjoy their experience.
