Pearl M. 'Dottie' Flateau

HURLEY, Wis. - Pearl M. "Dottie" Flateau, 91, of Hurley, formerly of Montreal, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley, surrounded by her loving family.

The former Dottie Danielson was born April 16, 1924, in Mellen, daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Formolo) Danielson, attended grade school in Iron Belt, and graduated from Iron Belt High School in 1942. She worked at the S.S. Kresge Co. in downtown Ironwood, Mich., and Fineman's Department Store, Iron Exchange Bank and the American Legion Lanes in Hurley.

She was married to Richard "Dick" Flateau on Nov. 8, 1945, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Iron Belt by the late Rev. Jerome Mee. Dick preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1994.

Dottie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society in Montreal. She was an excellent cook and baker, and loved to crochet and make afghans and baby clothes.

Surviving are three sons, Paul (Jean), Montreal, Robert (Barb), Stevens Point, and Richard (Suzie), New Lisbon; two daughters, Mary Lou (Mike) Peplinski, Amherst Junction, and Susie (Jim) Prezkop, Bessemer, Mich .; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Flateau, Portland, Ore .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Dottie was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold "Bud" and Donald Danielson; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 1, at noon, preceded by visitation at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt.

Luncheon will be served at Joany's Sidekicks in Iron Belt upon return from the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Prezkop, Michael Peplinski Jr., and Matthew, Tony, Nathan and Patrick Peplinski.
