Richard David Hanson

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Richard David Hanson, 70, of Battle Creek, passed away on May 2, 2015, at the Battle Creek Medical Center.

Richard attended Roosevelt Junior High School in Ironwood Township and Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. He then graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1963, and attended Western Michigan University from 1963 to 1967. He then taught high school social studies at Dowagiac High School from 1967 to 1970. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Hans Hanson; sister, Marylin Pears; brothers, Lawrence Elms and James Hanson; and niece, Paula Adamson.

Survivors include sisters, Laurette Dreisbach, of Oxford, Nancy McCluskey, of Tucson, Ariz, and Janet (Arnold) Brown, of Minneapolis; and brother, Robert (Linda) Hanson M.D., of Walla Walla, Wash .; along with many nieces and nephews.

Richard was buried with full military honors at Fort Custer Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Battle Creek.
