Dr. Rodney 'Rod' Jerome Soyka

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Dr. Rodney “Rod” Jerome Soyka, of New Port Richey, a former resident of Ironwood, Mich., peacefully passed to be with Our Lord in Heaven on June 29, 2015.

Rod was a former Marine, a police officer in Washington, D.C., an ordained minister and a spiritual therapist who devoted his life to walking with the Lord. Those who knew him can take comfort in knowing that he is walking with Christ and glorifying God in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, six children and their spouses, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

There will be a brief memorial service on July 9, 2015, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Dobies Funeral Home, 6616 Congress St., New Port Richey. Following the ceremony, there will be a “Celebrating the Memories of Rod’s Life” to be held at the beach at sunset.

The family requests that those who knew Rodney continue to walk with Christ and revel in the peace, love and joy of God that only the Holy Spirit provides. Our prayer of thanks to Heavenly Father, Lord God Almighty, for accepting Rodney Soyka into Heaven and giving us strength to accept his passing as God’s will.
