Louise A. Bolich

HURLEY, Wis. — Louise A. Bolich, 95, Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2015, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Hurley, from complications attributed to Alzheimer’s.

She was born Aug. 18, 1919, to Raymond and Florence (MacDonell) Dick in the same home which she resided in the majority of her life on Junet Road in Ironwood.

Louise graduated from Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1937. She attended Gogebic Junior College and Michigan State University.

Louise Dick and Joseph F. Bolich were married on July 6, 1939, and resided in Muskegon before returning to the Upper Peninsula and making Ironwood their permanent home. They had three children: Sandra Hoppe, Robert (Dr. Barbara) Bolich and Barry (Anna) Bolich.

Louise, Joe and their three children were involved with horses. In addition to raising, riding and showing the horses, she was active in the Gogebic County 4-H Horse Project. She touched the lives of many of the youth in the area while sharing her knowledge.

She is survived by her three children and a granddaughter, Eleanor Louise Bolich. She is further survived by sister-in-law, S. Walli Dick, and several nieces and nephews. Louise was proceeded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; her brother, Raymond M. Dick; a granddaughter; and many other relatives, in-laws and friends.

Per her request, no formal services will be held and cremation has taken place. Those who knew Louise are invited to share memories of her at a gathering of friends and family Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home, 304 S. Sophie St., in Bessemer.

Those who wish to honor Louise’s memory with a memorial contribution are asked to consider HOPE Animal Shelter, 590 Easy St., in Ironwood. This is appropriate as mom would provide a sanctuary for those in need — both two-legged and four-legged. Many memories were formed, and laughter shared around the kitchen table at the farm.

Her family will always be grateful for the kindness and caring, support and courtesy she received from the caregivers at Sky View Nursing Center and Villa Maria. A special thank you goes to Dr. James Rocco.

Range Crematory in Hurley and Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home in Bessemer are assisting the family with arrangements.
