Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

Edward J. Lesky

MILWAUKEE - If I could have written my own obituary, this is how I believe it would have read.

On Aug. 10, 2015, I decided it was time to go. I was born in 1920, so 95 years on this earth was a pretty good haul.

It was time to see my wife, Genevieve (nee Sommers), "man that woman could cook," my daughter, Barbara Fuchsberger, and so many family and friends who went before me.

I served my country proudly in World War II and that shaped the rest of my life; some of it good and some bad, but it did shape my life.

Sadly, I leave behind my son, David, his wife, Cindy (Kennedy) Lesky, my nephew, Larry Jackovich, and his wife, Marcia, niece Jean and her family, grandchildren Frank Fuchsberger and his wife, Heidi, Amy (Fuchsberger) Scheu and Fred, great-grandchildren Lindsey and Logan Fuchsberger, Frank Fuchsberger Sr. and Carrie, along with many other family and friends.

I grew up in Bessemer, Mich. I came to Milwaukee after WWII. I was a meat and potatoes kind of man. I said what I meant and I meant what I said. I loved my family and working in my yard. Life was good.

There will be a visitation at the Schramka Funeral Home, 7841 W. Appleton Ave., Milwaukee, on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. After a service at 11:30 a.m., we will take a ride over to the Holy Cross Cemetery at 7301 W. Nash St. in Milwaukee for a military send-off.

Flowers are not necessary. If you choose, please make a donation to the VA Volunteer Program floor 9C at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Hospital in Milwaukee. I would like to thank all the fine people at the hospital. The care I received was much appreciated.

There is one more thing: David, your detail is over. You did a fine job.

Love, Dad.
