Robert 'Boppin' Bob' Peltola

BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. - Robert "Boppin' Bob" Peltola, 58, of Bruce Crossing, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015.

He was born Dec. 13, 1956, in Ontonagon to Hector and Betty (Rice) Peltola. Bob grew up in Agate and graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in 1975.

Following graduation, Bob went to work at Settler's Co-op, where he was employed for 40 years. Bob also was a high school sports broadcaster for 29 years for local athletic events, which was his passion. He enjoyed watching the athletes grow throughout high school and being able to broadcast the games to those who couldn't attend.

Bob was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Paynesville. He also was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers and Michigan State Spartans.

He loved going to his camp on the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Hector and Betty; sisters, Pat and Barbara; and uncle, Harold.

He is survived by his children, Kristopher (Megan Olson), Steven, Brooke (Matthew) Urbis, Danielle and Bobby; brothers, Bill (Joanne) and Jim; special granddaughter, Ella Marie Urbis; mother of his children, Sharon Peltola; former longtime girlfriend, Linda Maki; pets, Nikita and Sassy; good friends, Jim Niemi and Brandon Perttula; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and "visitors."

A Celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at noon at the Ewen-Trout Creek High School. Burial will be in the Agate Cemetery. A potluck luncheon will follow at Logger's Alley.
