Rosemary 'Rosey' Gembolis

WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Rosemary “Rosey” Gembolis, 66, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.

Rosey was born on Nov. 12, 1948, in Wakefield, a daughter of Joseph D. and Dorothy E. (Zuidmulder). She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1966. Rosey continued her education at Michigan Technological University in Houghton and earned her bachelor of science in mathematics in 1970.

Rosey worked at Military Sealift Command as an accountant in Washington D.C. Rosemary moved back to the area in the late 1970’s and concluded her working career as a bookkeeper for Dr. Gresham in Ironwood.

She was a devout Catholic and a supporting member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wakefield.

Rosey enjoyed gardening, crafting and baking. She loved nature and took pleasure in feeding the birds.

Rosey’s kindness and perpetual smile will always be in her family’s heart.

Rosey leaves behind to cherish her memory three sisters and a brother, Susan, Linda and James Gembolis, all of Wakefield, and Joann (Melvin) Johnson, of Robbinsdale, Minn .; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Joseph A., on Jan. 19, 1979.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 23, at 1:45 p.m., preceded by visitation at 12:45 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Antony Lukka, celebrant. Also in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women’s Guild Honor Guard.

Lunch will be served at the church hall following the Mass.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
