Hurley — Drivers traveling down Silver Street Monday might have noticed cleanup work had begun on the Wishbones property in downtown Hurley.

Property owner Bill Murray said one of his primary focuses Monday was taking down portions of the roof so that workers could safely clean out the interior of the building.

Murray purchased the property from Iron County for $3,000 earlier this month.

According to information at the Nov. 10 county board meeting, the property’s deed includes the requirements that the property be cleaned up by August 2016 and inhabitable by September 2017.

While it was still early in the process, Murray told the Daily Globe Monday he had several potential ideas for the property.

Murray, who said he has experience as both a builder and restauranteur, discussed his vision of having both a space for a bar and nice sit-down meal, along with an area for fast food.

Whatever he ends up doing, Murray said quality is important.

“We’re anticipating some high quality, popular food,” Murray said, mentioning a number of dishes, including fried chicken, as well as various sandwiches that could be featured on the menu.

He expects to release more information as the restaurant develops.

Wishbones, the most recent restaurant at the location, burned down in December of 2013.
